Speaker: David Crow. This lecture describes the principles of community-supported plant-based health care. Examples of such a system include school gardens, eco- reserves, eco-villages and botanical gardens. The need for grassroots health care is presented, drawing on the lacks in the present system: high cost of health care, need for affordable nontoxic medicine and the loss of wild medicinal plants. Examples of the creation of grassroots health care include the Learning Garden at Venice High School in Los Angeles, the Self and Soul Center in Oregon and High Falls Gardens in New York.
