Speaker: Jillian Stansbury, ND Mast cells are renowned contributors to hypersensitivity reactions, particularly type-I hypersensitivity, through their release of histamine and proteases, as well as potent lipid mediators. The term “Mast Cell Mediator Disorders” is being used to refer to the trickster symptoms now being shown to be contributory to a wide range of disorders, which include not just allergic reactions, but a variety of cancers and autoimmune diseases. Many of these cases stump physicians, presenting as digestive, cardiac, psychiatric or other disorders. They are found to involve a spectrum of mast cell disorders only after years of misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment. This session will take a deep dive into exploring mast cell activity and botanical agents that can help control abnormal mast cell activation.
