Speaker: David Winston, RH (AHG)  The Southeastern US is one of the most botanically diverse parts of North America. Many plants from this region are still used by SE Native people and were used by our Western herbal ancestors, the Thomsonians, Physiomedicalists and Eclectic Physicians.  Some of the plants they commonly used such as Goldenseal, Black Cohosh, Bloodroot, Saw Palmetto, Passionflower, Witch Hazel and American Ginseng are well known, but many others have been forgotten or neglected in our modern era. This is unfortunate since these plants are often abundant, and locally available and they can provide powerful medicines to help with many of today's medical issues. In addition, we will look at some of the invasive plants that have made the southeast their home and how we can use them for medicine as well.
